Begin a New Journey

When we embark upon a new journey, surely old fears can begin to creep in. Fear of doing it wrong. Fear of not knowing where to begin. Fear of making a total and complete fool of ourselves. Fear of getting lost....the list goes on and on. Giving into fear is usually the first step to failure. Sometimes it's the only step we need. But fear was not always present with us. Fear comes after.


In the beginning, before there is fear, there is always truth. The truth is that small still voice that leads us to a new journey and then continues to encourage us to begin......in spite of the fear. Maybe your truth is telling you to: Start the business, apply for the job, build relationships, put in the work, trust the process......rest.


As an adult, it is important that we know the truth. It is important that we listen to that small still voice and walk therein. The truth is with us always. And it continues to lead and guide us....rather we choose to listen or not. There is a verse in one of my favorite books that states that wherever we go, love and truth is with us. If we go to the mountain or find ourselves in the valley, love and truth will be there also. There is no hiding, no running, no getting away. We sometimes think we can escape; if we ignore it long enough, take enough medicine, find the right person, engage in enough self sabotaging behavior. Somehow, some of us have been wired to ignore the truth and instead take the default rout of living in fear. But it doesn't have to be this way.


At any time, you can choose to begin a new journey. A journey that is rooted and grounded in truth. Everyday is the beginning of a new journey. We have the opportunity to make new choices, to live new lives, and become new beings. One day at a time. Take the first step in your new journey today. Maybe your first step is to simply learn to listen to the truth when present. Or maybe it is time to make a move on a truth you have known all along. I can promise you that beginning the journey is as simple listening to The Truth and walking there in. It is simple......but it's not always easy.


Here are a few simple steps to begin the journey that is aligned with truth:

  1. Take time to meditate each day. It doesn't have to be long. You can begin with 5 minutes and slowly increase to 7 or 10.

  2. Surround yourself with people who can guide you. If you don't know anyone personally, get some good books that can lead you in the right direction.

  3. Spend time in nature (specially during this quarantine). Get out and go to a park, walk in your neighborhood, go for a hike, just stand for a few moments out in the sun.

  4. Write. Put your thoughts and ideas on paper (or on the computer). Journaling is an excellent way to get to the bottom of what you're thinking and mapping out where you want to go. If you're not living your truth, write down what beginning your journey might look like. Write down vivid descriptions of how you will feel when you are living your best life. Who will be there with you?

Take your time as you begin the journey. There is no rush. Reach out to people you trust. Take new steps each day that bring you closer to your truth. Practice what works and let go of what no longer serves you.
